![]() ![]() About BeitostolenYou probably couldn't build a more inviting resort to take your family to on their first ski trip than Beitostølen. Sitting at the edge of the beautiful Jotuheimen National Park, it is a stunning setting surrounded by untouched forested slopes and pristine snow-dusted landscapes. Friendly, safe and fun are the resorts main objectives - and they deliver them. The gentle uncrowded slopes are perfect for learning and building your confidence without hundreds of speed demons whizzing by. All of the pistes lead back to the resort, and lift queues and even queues at the mountain cafes to grab a hot chocolate are virtually unheard of! For beginners
Beitostølen is home to one of the best nursery slopes around, and in general offers perfect facilities and conditions to bring out the best in learner skiers and boarders. The ski school offers excellent English-speaking tuition, and it is located right near the village - as are the nursery areas. This means you won't have to tramp long distances in ski boots when little feet are tired! The slopes are completely unintimidating, with few crowds and gentle rolling slopes. There are plenty of gentle blues for you to move on to as well.
For intermediates
Most of the terrain here is graded beginner and intermediate. There aren't hundreds of pistes here for confident and mile-hungry intermediates, but there are many pluses that make up for it. The uncrowded slopes and virtually queue lift system mean you can ski non stop which will help you improve immensely. The more confident intermediates can also try the more challenging slopes at the nearby Alpine Centre, a short bus ride away.
For the advanced
Advanced skiers won't find many challenges at Beitostølen with few steep pistes. However the nearby Alpine Centre is home to some great off-piste with great powder chutes and wooded slopes. Ski school
The Ski Centre is situated right in the centre of Beitostølen. It has a sunny location with easy access to the lifts. The offer classes for anyone at any level. When it comes to children, they know how to make it fun from the start - making it easier for the kids to learn. Après Ski
The village has a warm, friendly and cosy atmosphere, with a low key après-ski scene during the week that livens up on the weekend. There's live music and several different bars to choose from. Try the inviting and intimate The Lobby Bar, Svingen Pub for live music, or Arnolds Pub at the bottom of the Ola-Express ski lift. If you're in the mood for dancing, head to dancing in Jegersalen at the Bergo Hotel, or the nightclub at the Radisson SAS Resort which has the longest bar and the biggest dance floor in the area. There are a handful of good restaurants to choose from, with food ranging from tapas to pizza and gourmet cuisine. For something different, you can go by snowmobile or sleigh ride to dinner in a tepee!
Off the Mountain
The resort has worked hard to provide as many fun family activities as possible. Kids will love the dog sledding, taking in the beautiful snowy surrounds while snuggled up under a large fur and being pulled by six to eight very friendly husky dogs. There's also mini snowmobiles made especially for children, tobogganing, snowshoeing, a large swimming pool, torch tight skiing and a tug of war with horses! For the more active there is airboarding, snow rafting, cross country skiing and mountaineering. Getting there
